Gov Cuomo Says COVID 19 Vaccine Could Be In The State By The Weekend

Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo today spoke about the distribution of the COVID 19 vaccine. He said the state is expected to recvieve about 170 thousand doses and that it could arrive by this weekend.

Cuomo said the vaccine will be shipped to 90 cold storage centers in the state. He said the distribution was based on the number of nursing home staff/residents/health workers there were in the area.

Central New York is expected to receive 6,400 doses of the vaccine while 4,200 will go to Utica and the Mohawk Valley and about 11,150 to the Finger Lakes area.

He said New York State's prioritization for the COVID vaccine, will be Nursing home residents and staffs and hospital staff,then patients and high-risk health care workers. After that long term care residents, EMS workers and other health care workers, then essential worker and general population starting high risk indivduals first.

Cuomo announced the numbers as well. Teh states positvity rate is at 5.44%, hospitalizations increased by 158 to bring the number of hospitalizations to near 5,000. He sadly reported tthat 95 people died in the past 24 hours from COVID 19.
