Syracuse Police Officers Justified In Deadly September Shooting

Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick announced all police officers at the scene including Kenneth Sheehan and David Wells were justified in a shooting that killed 33 year old Steven Smith

On September 4th a little before 1am, police responded to a Sunoco gas station on North State Street, for reports of a man with a gun. When they arrived they found Smith, who was armed.

Fitzpatrick says Steven Smith fired the first two shots during the incident. Before it was all over, 24 shots were fired

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

DA Fitzpatrick also said the autopsy showed that Smith had an "astronomical" amount of PCP in his system.
