Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh Announces Furloughs For City Employees

Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh has announced furloughs for city employees

The furloughs are an effort to help offset losses of revenue due to COVID 19.

The fours days when employees will be furloughed are are Oct 30th, Nov 20th, May 7th and June 25th.

On those days, the city's administrative offices will close but all emergency services and essential operations will remain open. Sanitation employees will also work on those days after they agreed to give up 4 days of holiday pay.

The furloughs will affect over 1,400 union and non-union employees and expected to save nearly 2 million dollars.
