Skaneateles Woman Held Hostage For 16 Months Has Been Released

Skaneateles, N.Y. - A Skaneateles woman whose been held hostage in Yemen for 16 months, is now free and heading home.

The New York Times reports, 60 year old Sandra Loli was freed along with another US citizen in a deal brokered by the Trump administration.

She was taken captive by Houthi rebels. Houthi leaders also released the remains of a third American, who died of natural causes while in captivity. The three were released in exchange for 240 rebel fighters according to news accounts.

Loli was in the country helping to install water filtration systems to help provide safe drinking water.
