Gov Cuomo Announces New Contact Tracing App For Your Phone

Albany, N.Y. - Gov Cuomo during a press conferance call announced the state is going high tech in its battle against covid 19.

New York is launching a contact tracing app in conjunction with Google and Apple. The app is called "COVID alert".It will tell you whether you you were within 6 feet of someone who tested positive for at least 10 minutes. The app works from cell data provided via bluetooth technology.

Cuomo said “It doesn’t give names. It doesn’t give any privacy information.You have to download the app. But it’s a great tool." The app is free for both Apple and Android phones.

Cuomo also announced thta the NY infection rate stands at .98%, however if you include the 20 hotspots downstate it goes up to 1.2% . 612 New Yorkers are hospitalized 11 died Wednesday.

He also said the "Education DASHBOARD" is up and running. It provides information about testing, results and other information regarding Coronavirus infection and procedures in schools across the state. You can visit the site by clicking on this link.

Gov Cuomo also again pushed the wearing of masks reminindg the public you risk being fined if you dont wear a mask. He said the public has been educated about masks.
