Gov Cuom Says "Low Risk Sports" Can Practice And Start Sept 21

Albany, N.Y. - Cuomo today says good numbers across state in controlling Covid 19, except there is "a caution flag" in Western New York. "We're focusing on it." Cuomo said.

Cuomo says state officials are monitoring an increase in positive COVID tests in western New York. He says a steel plant, food processing factory, nursing home have seen clusters.

482 hospitalizations, seven people have died in the last 24 hours from COVID-19.

He says that just 0.66% of the novel coronavirus tests processed yesterday in the state came back positive.

That’s record low, and the 17th straight day this measure has been below 1%.

Cuomo says "lower risk sports" (like soccer, swimming, field hockey) can practice and play starting 9/21 statewide. No travel practice or play permitted outside school's region til at least 10/19.

Higher risk sports,'' like football, ice hockey, rugby are not authorized to play "at this point,'
