East Syracuse, N.Y. - Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul was in the Syracuse area to help break ground on a 22,000 square foot expansion of the Byrne Dairy plant in East Syracuse.
The project is expected to create about 64 new jobs along with 125 construction jobs.
The expansion will allow Byrne to move into the aseptic milk and beverage business. Aseptic processing is used widely outside of the United States and allows milk and other beverages to be stored at room temperature for up to one year.
The total cost of the project is expected to be around 28 million dollars .
