Cornell Professor Killed On Her Bike By Drunk Driver

Groton, N.Y. - A Cornell professor was killed while riding her bike.

64 year old Jerrie Gavalchin, an associate professor in the Department of Animal Science at Cornell University was riding her bike in the Town of Groton, when 43 year old Jeffrey Skinner struck her.

As deputies headed to the scene they received multiple calls of a pickup truck driving with a bike embedded in its front grill.

The professor was transported to a hospital where she died.

Police finally caught Skinner and found the bike still in the grill.

He faces charges of Vehicular Manslaughter, DWI with a prior conviction and leaving the scene. He was arraigned and released.
