Gov. Cuomo: New Yorkers Must Wear Masks Or Cloth Coverings In Public

Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo has announced another initiative to try and slow the spread of coronavirus statewide.

Starting Friday, all New Yorkers will be required to wear face masks or cloth coverings while out in public. The order specifically calls for instances where social distancing can not be ensured. Local governments will need to enforce the order, but Governor Cuomo says anyone caught not wearing a mask won't be fined for now. He suggests New Yorkers will police themselves.

Health experts say while there's not a lot of evidence showing masks can protect people from coronavirus, they're an effective tool in reducing the spread of germs.
