Syracuse Police Changing How They Will Respond To Calls

Syracuse, N.Y.- In the ongoing fight against the spread of Covid 19 the Syracuse Police Department will temporarily change how we respond to calls

Officers will not be responding to non-emergency complaints, and those callers will now be directed to Tele-Serve, or E-Serve, reporting system.

Officers may also be contacting callers via the phone when possible to address complaints.

Individuals will be provided with the same type of report that would be provided by an Officer on the scene.

To keep both the public and first responders safe and healthy, 911 callers should be prepared to step outside of their home when meeting with an Officer. This will allow Officers to meet in an open-air environment and will enable Officers to abide by the recommended social distancing guidelines.

Police Department's lobby is now closed to the public. Staffing has been limited, and we will not be able to accommodate walk-in complaints until further notice
