Court Stenographer Arrested For Over Billing To The Tune Of $180,000

Phoenix, N.Y. - An Oswego County woman has been arrested after in an over billing scam.

47 year old Laura Hayes, of Phoenix, who owns and operates Quality Court Reporting, and was a court stenographer, routinely added zeros to billing invoices to insurance carrier clients over the course of several years. The alleged theft resulted in more than 180 thousand dollars in theft. Hayes has been charged with second-degree grand larceny.

She is due back in court on March 25.
