Man Who Crashed Near Camillus WalMart And Shot Himself, Has Died

Syracuse, N.Y. - The man who fled police Tuesday night, crashed into a tree near the Camillus WalMart and then shot himself has died.

The man, whose name has not been released, was approached by Syracuse police shortly after 8 p.m. They were looking for him there, based on a tip, regarding an older theft investigation.

When police caught up to him, the man had already shot himself in the head in an apparent suicide.

The man was rushed to the hospital and died last night from his injuries.

Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick says he doesn’t see any reason to continue investigating. They will of course review the police department’s report.
