DA Gives Update On Chase That Ended With Suspect Shooting Himself

Camillus, N.Y. - Onondaga County DA William Fitzpatrick has released new information on a police chase that ended with a suspect shooting himself.

Fitzpatrick says the man was wanted by Syracuse police on a theft charge and was spotted in the parking lot of the Camillus Walmart earlier this week. The man sped away before crashing his vehicle and was later discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man's name hasn't been released but officials say he's expected to survive.

He'll likely face a felony weapon possession charge in connection with the gun he used to hurt himself and could spend up to 15 years in prison.
