Oswego County Health Department Says Flu Cases On The Rise

Oswego, N.Y. - Oswego County Health Department says flu activity is increasing. Officials say the number of flu cases increased 59 percent.

Martin said approximately three quarters of the cases of flu identified in Oswego County are influenza B strains. “This is concerning because B strains tend to cause more severe illness in young children,"

A child has died of the flu, according to the state Health Department.

An 11-year-old Erie County boy died of flu complications Jan. 11, even though he had been vaccinated against the virus

It is the third pediatric flu death reported in New York so far this flu season.
