Woman Struck By Vehicle While Trying To Save Her Dog

Schroeppel, N.Y. - State Police in Hastings are investigating a car/pedestrian crash that happened yesterday on Sand Ridge Road in the town of Schroeppel.

Troopers say a car being driven by 23 year old Benjamin Taylor, of Syracuse, was traveling south on County Route 10 when he struck, 30-year-old, Samantha Wightman who was walking in the road trying to rescue her dog, who was just struck by another vehicle.

Wightman was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse and is listed in serious condition.
