The Onondaga War Memorial has a new name for the first time in its 68-year history.
The multi-use facility will now be known as the "Upstate Medical University Arena at the War Memorial." A news conference today made the announcement of the new sponsor. Terms of the agreement aren't presently available. The sponsor agreement is an ofshoot of a collaboration between the county and Syracuse Crunch owner Howard Dolgon, with Dolgon taking the lead in the effort. The Crunch are the venue's primary tenant, playing 38 regular-season games there every year.
