Washington, D.C. - The story going into Saturday's rivalry matchup between Syracuse and Georgetown was that in the last four meetings of these two teams the game was decided by seven points. The 2019 renewal of the old Big East grudge match proved not to be one of those. The Hoyas juiced the Orange 89 to 79.
Georgetown's Mac McClung led all scorers with 26 points. Buddy Boeheim finished with 25 points on seven made 3s, all in the second half. Hughes had 21 points, while Girard had 16.
Georgeotwn had a decisive advantage on the boards. The Hoyas took 41 rebounds compared to 'Cuse's 29.
Syracuse returns home for a long stretch of home games. SU kicks off five straight from the Dome on Wednesday when they host Oakland. In that stretch, 'Cuse will close out their non-conference schedule.
