Oswego Firefighters, HazMat Dealing With Mercury Spill

Firefighters and HazMat teams are at work dealing with a mercury spill on Oswego's west side.

Fire officials say that spill came from the city's water treatment facility, from old discarded equipment that still contained some mercury. Along with local firefighters and HazMat teams, the Syracuse Hazardous Materials team is providing help to deal with the spill. There are no injuries from the spill and officials say the public is not in any danger. SUNY campus police and the DEC have been advised and are in contact with firefighters.
