Extensive Rust is Cause of Gas Station Canopy Collapse

It appears that rust on that gas station canopy caused it to collapse in the town of Cicero this week.

The town's code enforcement officer says the base of that canopy at the Sunoco gas station on East Taft Road was severely rusted. But the rust wasn't visible, and the officer says wind or snow could have brought it down considering the amount of rust. The canopy collapsed Wednesday afternoon. No one was hurt, but two vehicles were crushed.
