Syracuse Police Have New Policy For Interactions With Transgenders

Syracuse, N.Y. - The Syracuse Police Department has released a new policy entitled "Interactions with Transgender Persons".

Syracuse Police Chief Kenton Buckner says under the new policy officers must address the transgender people using pronouns titles of respect and a name as expressed by the individual. If officers are uncertain...they are asked to respectfully ask the person their preferance.

The policy is being added to the curriculum of the academy along with training for the current work force.

We expect to hear more from the Chief at the graduation ceremony Friday.
