Cuomo Puts Nat'l Guard on Standby For Snow Event

Across the state, the governor has placed the National Guard on standby and has activated the state's Emergency Operations Center in the wake of a major snow event starting Sunday.

Cuomo says the storm has the potential to cause significant problems as New Yorkers return from the Thanksgiving holiday. Cuomo also announced that over a half-ton of salt is now available to help combat black ice and snowy roads. Cuomo's office recommends to not drive unless necessary, drive at slower speeds, and be sure your vehicle is stocked with survival gear like blankets, a shovel, battery cables, energy bars, and a bright-colored cloth to use as a distress flag.
