Albany, N.Y. - There is a proposal in the state legislature to grant voting rights to prison inmates.
The bill is being introduced by Democratic state Senator Kevin Parker of Brooklyn. It would also create a program to help inmates register to vote.
Maine and Vermont currently allow inmates to vote.
