Officials Share Cause Of SUNY Oneonta Shelter In Place

Oneonta, N.Y. - We've learned a little more about what prompted SUNY Oneonta to asked it's campus community to shelter in place yesterday.

University officials say that yesterday afternoon began text messaging with a New York City crisis line to say they intended to shoot people at the campus. That crisis line shared the concerning messages with college officials who asked students, faculty, and staff, to hunker down while the threat was investigated.

Police say that they tracked down the student whose phone sent the message. Investigators say the student reported to the college that her phone had been hacked.
