Three Syracuse Police Officers Are Honored For Heroism

Syracuse, N.Y. - Three Syracuse police officers were honored for their bravery today

In February last year police were on the receiving end of bullets being fired by Leon Thomas, one struck the hood and windshield of Lt. James Milana’s police cruiser, barely missing his head.

Two other officers, Victoria Losurdo and Travis Rheinheimer also were fired upon.

The three officers received the statewide “Police Officer of the Year" award.

This is the second time in three years that an officer in the Syracuse Police Department received the award. Officer Kelsey Francemone, was honored in 2017 for her conduct during a shooting near Skiddy Park at a Father’s Day gathering.
