Gov. Cuomo Signs Bills To Increase Protections For Crime Victims

Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo has signed off on three bills aimed at increasing protections for crime victims.

The first piece of legislation allows domestic violence survivors to sue people who violate a restraining order. The remaining measures expand legal protections for crime victims who may not have been physically injured.

Each year, an estimated 400,000 domestic violence incidents are reported to law enforcement in New York.
