DOT Has Announced Date For 81 Meeting To Be Held In Salina

Town of Salina, N.Y. - New York’s DOT has annnounced it will hold an informational session about the Interstate 81 project in Salina.

The Salina session will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11 at Chestnut Middle School.

Under the state’s proposal, the part of I-81 that runs through Salina would continue to be a high-speed road without any traffic lights. It would be redesignated as a state business loop.

Many town offciails and businesses in Salina feel the plan as suggested would have a negative impact on the Salina and surrounding area.

Already, the Department of Transportation has had 10 information sessions about the $2 billion project.
