Syracuse, N.Y. - The first of four games overseas for the Orange are in the books.
The SU Men's Basketball team fished strong down the stretch to close out their first game with a 69-59 win.
Elijah Hughes led with 18 points. Buddy Boeheim and freshman Brycen Goodine were the only other SU players in double figures, both finished with 11 points. Freshman forward Quincy Guerrier chipped in with nine points. Bourama Sidibe started at center and finished with eight.
Highly-touted recruit Joe Girard struggled to make shots early, but a late three helped lock in the Orange win. He finished with six points.
Game two in Italy is Wednesday at noon.
