Jefferson County Man Arrested On 14 Counts Of Animal Cruelty

Lorraine, N.Y. - Over the weekend State Police arrested a Jefferson County man on 14 counts of animal cruelty.

Troopers arrested 38 year old Jeffrey Zehr after investigating a complaint. While searching a property in the Town of Lorraine, they found a horse that had been dragged, still alive but in obvious pain.

They also found a month-old calf in poor health. Both the horse and the calf needed to be euthanized.

In searching the grounds they also discovered, 25 cows, four horses, four ponies, and other farm animals without proper food and water. A total of 14 dead animal carcasses were also found.

Zehr was charged with 14 counts of animal abuse and issued an appearance ticket. He is scheduled for court later this month.
