St. Joe's Halts Surgeries While Investigating Residue in Operating Room

Syracuse, N.Y. - Earlier in the week, a non-bacterial residue was found on some surgical instruments at St Joseph's Hospital. That prompted the hospital into rescheduling surgeries.

Although all the medical equipment met the hospital's sterilization standards, the hospital didn't go through with some surgeries while the residue was tested.

The residue contains small amounts of silver and copper from the hospital’s water treatment system. St. Joe’s said its water is safe.

St. Joe's says they are currently testing a process that would eliminate the issue.

The hospital says NO patients were exposed to the material.
