Assembly Democrats Give "Green Light" To Licenses For Illegal Immigrants

Albany, N.Y. - The New York State Assembly has passed its so-called "Green Light" bill, which would allow illegal immigrants to get driver licenses:

The bill was passed 86 to 47. It's not clear if the bill can pass the Senate before the legislature adjourns next Wednesday. Republicans blocked the bill when they controlled the chamber.

Some opponents say is in violation of federal law -- though twelve states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, have enacted similar legislation.
