Common Council Approves Spending 20 Million At Fowler High

Syracuse, N.Y. - The Syracuse Common Council unanimously agreed today to borrow up to $20 million to build a sports stadium for Public Service Leadership Academy at Fowler High School

The West Side school hasnt had a usable athletic field in 10 years.

The proposed athletic complex would include fields for football, soccer, baseball, tennis courts and new locker rooms.

The school was promised a new field in 1997, but that had to be put off for other projects the school needed. Many are concerned the new facility could sink, much like the school itself did in the 80's.

The state has agreed to reimburse the city for most of the cost.
