CNY Begins Digging Out

The dig out begins. Snowfall measured by the foot has blanketed CNY

A winter storm warning remains in place through the afternoon. The concern now is not so much the rate of snowfall but the winds that are picking up. A windchill warning will go into place tonight through tomorrow. Temperatures in CNY already feel subzero but at times it could feel like 25 below.  That same wind will blow around some of the freshly fallen snow making visibility on the still snow covered roads difficult.

Now the snow isn’t over yet. Onondaga and Oswego counties will see another few inches of fresh snow before they day is over. Madison county could see closer to half a foot.

Lake Effect snow is expected to drop several more inches of snow tonight into tomorrow morning.  Western Oswego and Northern Cayuga Counties will bear the brunt of the Lake Effect with four to six inches. The intensity of the snow bands will taper off as you move into Onondaga and Madison counties.
