A Castile man is facing charges he tried to kill the Wyoming County sheriff.
State troopers say Sheriff Gregory Rudolph was driving to work yesterday in Attica when a vehicle followed him, then pulled in front of him and blocked him. That's when police say Lynn Hall got out of his vehicle and got into a struggle with Rudolph. Hall allegedly pinned Rudolph to the ground and threatened him with a knife.
An off-duty trooper and two other bystanders came to Rudolph's aid, and Hall was arrested. Troopers say Hall had been at the Sheriff's office in previous days to ask about applying for a pistol permit.
