Auburn, N.Y. - Auburn Police were investigating a child abuse case only to have it turn into a rape investigation as well.
37 year old Eugene Scott, is accused of beating his 9-month-old son, after police were called to the hospital regarding injuries to the child. A babysitter brought the baby to the hospital with bruises and rug burns on his body.
Scott told police he caused the babyâs injuries accidentally but the police say the evidence shows otherwise.
During the investigation, police figured out the child was conceived while the 17-year-old mother was underage.
Scott is already a Level 2 registered sex offender in New York for having sex with an underage girl in 2002.
Scott is charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree rape.
