Syracuse Duo Lead Troopers On A High Speed Chase

Watertown, N.Y. - Tuesday night around 10:30, Troopers responded to a reckless driver complaint on Route 81 northbound in the town of Richland. 

Troopers saw the vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle.The driver refused to comply and accelerated to over 100 mph.

The vehicle continued driving to the City of Watertown before crashing into a parked car at the intersection of Washington and Ward Street. 

The operator,  25 year old James J. Dunn, and his passenger, 19 year old Kyara L. Arletta,  both of Syracuse, fled the accident on foot.

Both were caught and taken into custody. 

The pursuit saw  Dunn reaching speeds of 110 mph,  and lasted about 21 minutes.  

Troopers discovered the vehicle was stolen from Syracuse. 

The two face the following charges:

James J. Dunn, age 25, from 221 Marguerite Avenue Syracuse, NY was charged with the following: 

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree, a class “D” felony.
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, a class “A” misdemeanor
  • Fleeing A Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, a class “A” misdemeanor
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree, a class “A” misdemeanor
  • Reckless Driving, an unclassified misdemeanor
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd degree, an unclassified misdemeanor

Kyara L. Arletta, age 19, from 550 Clinton Street Syracuse, NY was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree, a class “D” felony. 

Dunn is in Jefferson County Jail without bail.

Arletta is in Jefferson County Jail on $15,000 cash bail / $30,000 bond.
