North Syracuse Man Tries To Get Police To Shoot Him

North Syracuse, N.Y. - 35 year old Hugh O'Donnell was standing in the door of his home when officers arrived regarding a domestic abuse call. 

As police approached O'Donnell he pointed a black pistol at them and asked the officers to shoot him. 

He continued to walk out of his home toward the center of the street, all the while making comments that he wanted the officers to shoot him. 

After awhile and with the help of a Taser, police were able to arrest the man. The pistol turned out to be a starter pistol. 

O'Donnell faces the following charges:

  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor
  • Two counts of menacing a police officer, a felony
  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor
  • Second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor
