Valesky: 'I Will No Longer Seek Re-Election'

Syracuse, N.Y. - State Senator Dave Valesky is announcing that he will not run an independent campaign for re-election to the NYS Senate.

"After much thought and deliberation, and although my name remains on the ballot, I have decided that I will no longer seek re-election to the State Senate," Valesky said. "It has been the privilege of a lifetime to serve the people of Central New York these past fourteen years. The time has come to move on."

Valesky lost a Democratic Party Primary for his 53rs State Senat Seat to challenger Rachel May earlier this month.

Democrat voters angry about a group of eight State Senators that broke ranks and spent six years voting largely with Republicans showed up to the polls on Primary Day. Six of the eight IDC Democrats lost primaries last night, including IDC leader Jeff Klein.

Despite suspending his campaign he remains on the ballot this November on other party lines.
