Clay, N.Y. - An 80-year-old woman and her son have been charged with illegally growing pot.
Onondaga County Sheriff's found 56 pot plants growing in a backyard and 43 plants inside the home on Redwood Drive in Clay.
The woman, Rosemary Mezzatesta, and her son 51 year old Albert Merola who lives on Beach Road in Cicero were arrested and charged.
Mezzatesta was charged with illegally growing and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Merola was charged with criminal possession, unlawfully growing and marijuana, a unlawful possession of marijuana.
They were both issued appearance tickets.
A concerned neighbor used the Tip 411 app to notify deputies of the illegal plants according to Sgt Jon Seeber.
