Former Jail Deputy Pleads Guilty To 1997 Solvay Sodomy

Solvay, N.Y. - A former Onondaga County Jail Deputy is taking a plea deal for a 1997 Solvay Sodomy.

Jack Doolittle pleaded guilty to sodomizing a 12-year-old Solvay girl near the Hazard Street Middle School more than 20-years-ago.

Prosecutors say Doolittle grabbed the 12-year-old girl off a path while she was on her way to school, bound her with duct tape, dragged her to a secluded area and forced her to perform a sexual act.

DNA had been found at the scene and recently came back as a match to Doolittle. He was a jail deputy from 1988 to 2002.  He was convicted in 2017 for drugs and was required to provide a sample of his DNA.

Despite his plea, Doolittle still refused to confess to the crime -- because of a legal maneuver.
