Albany, N.Y. - New York State is taking Purdue Pharma to court.

Attorney General Barbara Underwood filed the lawsuit yesterday on Long Island.  The state claims the Connecticut-based drug company has been acting illegally in an effort to boost the sales of its products, including OxyContin.

The legal action is asking for the company to cover damages and pay civil penalties.
