More EEE Found In Cicero Swamp As Officials Prepare To Spray

Cicero, N.Y. - Onondaga County says it could conduct aerial spraying as early as Wednesday after additional evidence of EEE was confirmed in mosquito pools in the Cicero Swamp area.

The spraying will depend on the weather. Too much rain or wind makes the spraying ineffective. If the county conducts aerial spraying, it will notify residents through the reverse 911 notification system.

The new samples were collected from traps in the East Taft Road and Route 298 area. It’s the second time this summer that Easter Equine Encifilitus has been identified in mosquitoes gathered from the Taft Road trap.
