Cuomo Agrees To Debate Challenger Cynthia Nixon

New York - After months of delays, Governor Andrew Cuomo is finally agreeing to debate his challenger Cynthia Nixon.

Nixon made the announcement.  Earlier in the campaign, Nixon agreed to two different debates by local TV and radio stations, but Cuomo declined.  She says she's now learned he has agreed to debate her on WCBS-TV, the last week in August, which would be his first one-on-one debate with a challenger in 12 years.

Nixon blasted the date, saying there would be a minimum of viewers at that time.  A spokesperson for Nixon said, "Cynthia will debate Governor Cuomo backwards and in high heels if she has to."

Cuomo and Nixon will meet at Hofstra University in Nassau County on Wednesday, August 29th.  The debate will be carried live at 7 p.m. on WCBS 2.
