Fayetteville, N.Y. - A State Trooper was working a joint seat belt enforcement operation at Green Lakes State Park when he noticed 27 year old Melissa Romano of North Syracuse entering the park with unrestrained children inside her minivan.
He spoke with Romano, who confirmed the children in the backseat were ages 7, 7, and 11. 1-year-old twins that were also in the vehicle were properly restrained however neither 7-year-old was restrained properly.
The Trooper smelled alcohol and asked the driver to exit the vehicle, where she failed sobriety tests. Her BAC was .19 . Romano also did not have a valid license only a permit.
She faces 5 counts aggravated DWI, along with 5 counts endangering welfare of a child.
