Crash Leaves Woman In Critical Condition

On Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at approximately 12 p.m., a Trooper attempted to initiate a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2009 Dodge Charger that was stopped in the middle of the intersection of Oswego Street & Church Street impeding traffic.  As the Trooper approached the female driver, the driver immediately accelerated down Oswego Street.  The Trooper immediately returned to his vehicle and began to travel north on Oswego Street, as he rounded a curve in the roadway he observed the vehicle crashed into a utility pole located in front of the Camden Elementary School parking lot.  The driver, identified as Michelle L. Pierce, age 41, from Stratford, Connecticut was air lifted by Mercy Flight to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where she is currently listed in critical condition.  Investigation revealed on July 6th, Pierce was reported to the town of Stratford Police Department in Connecticut to be a missing person with suicidal ideations. The investigation is continuing. State Police were assisted at the scene by the Village of Camden Police Department, Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Camden Fire Department and North Shore Ambulance.
