Fatal Early Morning Accident On The Thruway

State Police say around 2:30 this morning 26 year old Arthur Hunter was trying to repair his 2002 Toyota Solara  that had broken down on the Westbound lane of the Thruway 1/2 mile from the Verona exit. He had his hazard lights flashing and was on the side of the road. 

While Hunter was working on his car a Freightliner Box Truck, driven by 42 year old Remus Parish of Cleveland Ohio,  drifted off the shoulder and slammed into the back end of Hunter's car. 

Hunter was pronounced dead at the scene. 3 other passengers, ages 17, 18 and 19 were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. 

Parish, suffered minor injuries and was ticketed for moving from a lane unsafely.

The investigation continues.
