Syracuse, N.Y. - The Syracuse Common Council is okay with Mayor Ben Walsh's first budget.
The council approved his proposed budget with no proposed changes.
The Common Council has passed the FY2019 budget accepting the administration’s proposed spending plan. The Council and the new administration are both commended for "keeping the lines of communication open" to arrive at a budget the Council can support. https://t.co/mMtpPxdmHC pic.twitter.com/9WjSpWNTN3— City of Syracuse (@Syracuse1848) May 7, 2018
The budget makes good on a campaign promise. It calls for more cops and firefighters while putting a freeze on salary increases and non-essential hiring.
The budget is slated to go into effect in July.
