On May 2nd, State Police responded to the Grenadier Village apartment complex regarding an elderly woman in a vehicle with injuries. When they arrived Troopers learned that the 74-year-old woman was reportedly beaten by her 46-year-old son.
She had significant injuries throughout her body and was transported to SUNY Upstate University Hospital.
Investigators interviewed her son, 46 year old, William Tonon, who admitted to assaulting his mother in their apartment.
Tonon was charged with Assault 2nd degree (D-felony) and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing (A-misdemeanor). He was arraigned in Syracuse City Court and held on $10,000 cash bail /$20,000 bond and a full stay away order of protection was issued.
The mother was listed in stable condition after doctors determined that she suffered 9 broken ribs, a punctured lung and other internal injuries from the assault.
