Sims Pleads Guilty, Resigns As Syracuse Parks Commissioner

Syracuse, N.Y. - A Former SU Basketball Star has admitted to stealing money from the people.

Lazarus Sims plead guilty to stealing $5,400 from taxpayers in the City of Syracuse. He also resigned his position as the Syracuse Parks Commissioner.

Sims offered no justification for his action only saying in his resignation letter that he fell on hard times.

As part of his plea deal, Sims' felony was reduced to a misdemeanor. He has already paid back the money that he stole.

Sims will avoid jail time if he keeps his nose clean for a year.
