Decision Thursday Could Set Up Democratic Congressional Primary

Syracuse, N.Y. - A judge is expected to rule Thursday on objections to ballot petitions submitted by Democrat Juanita Perez Williams.

The one-time Syracuse Mayoral Candidate, and long-time Democrat Party insider, mounted a last minute campaign for the Democratic Party nomination to challenge John Katko.

Local Democrats have rallied behind SU Professor Dana Balter. Onondaga County Democratic Committee member Diane Dwire filed the objection to the petitions last week. Balter told reporters clustered outside the Westcott Theater this weekend that she has all of the support she needs to fend off a Perez-Williams primary.

Balter will be on the ballot this November regardless of how things play-out on the Democratic Party Ballot Line. She will be on the ballot as the Working Families nominee.
