NY Leads The Nation In Opioid Related Deaths

New York State leads the nation in opioid-related deaths.

Despite having among the lowest opioid prescribing rates, New York had the highest total of opioid-related overdose deaths.

The latest figures from the CDC show that the opioid epidemic is getting worse. Every state in the Union saw an increase in deadly overdoses regardless of age, race, or ethnicity. 

The CDC said more than 63-thousand people died nationwide in 2016 from opioids,more than the number of U.S. casualties in the Vietnam War.
